IDEAM, A TYLin Company

Specialized in complex transportation structures and major buildings

IDEAM is now fully integrated with TYLin, a global engineering firm, serving our European and Latin American clients to design infrastructure solutions that connect and elevate communities.

Innovation, creativity, quality, and engineering excellence have been the hallmark of the IDEAM's projects since its inception in 1938. We are recognized internationally as a premier structural engineering firm with expertise in steel, steel-concrete composite, cast-in-place concrete, and precast concrete technologies and prefabricated systems.

In the field of building engineering, IDEAM engineers are experts in virtually any structure type. Our expertise includes public and outstanding buildings, industrial buildings, underground stations and coach depots, and other specialty structures.

1930s

Creation of IDEAM, from the Latin for “looking for the idea”.

1970s

In the 70s and 80s, IDEAM's activity involved José Antonio Fernández Ordóñez, PhD, Eng., one of the most recognized Spanish bridge designers of the last century, who undertook numerous singular, technically innovative and ultramodern projects from conception, to design and construction, with special care and attention to the formal and aesthetic aspects.

1990s

From 1990 to 2021, IDEAM has been directed by Francisco Millanes Mato, who was also a Chair Professor of Steel-Concrete Composite Bridges and Structures at the E.T.S.I. Caminos, Canales y Puertos (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid).

2020s

IDEAM is managed by Luis Matute Rubio, CEO and Miguel Ortega Cornejo, COO together with Francisco Millanes Mato as Honorary President. They lead a powerful team of engineers with extensive experience in the design, construction and maintenance of structures.

They are the responsible for the training of promising engineers. The training is wide-ranging, aimed at acquiring experience with concrete (on-site and precast), metallic and composite (steel & concrete) structures.

In 2024, IDEAM, A TYLin Company, becomes TYLin.
