“La Concordia” bridge, a new icon for Madrid

“La Concordia” arch bridge connects terminal T-4 of the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport with Valdebebas crossing over the M-12 Highway, with a main span of 162 m, a total length of 207 m and a width of 24.5 m, and thus becomes the bridge with the biggest span in the Region of Madrid.

It has been many years of hard work since IDEAM SA won the ideas competition in 2007 with our proposal for a singular arch bridge that we carried out together with the architects Francisco José Domouso de AlbaLorenzo Fernández-Ordóñez Hernández and Emilio Rodríguez, and they have been also many engineers, technicians and draftsmen from the office who have participated in some of the phases of the Tender, the Detailed Design and the Works Management.

The promoter of the bridge was the Junta de Compensación Parque de Valdebebas, the construction company Ferrovial, the steel workshop Talleres DIZMAR and the specialist heavy-lifting company Mammoet, which carried out the complex operation of transferring the central section of the arch.
