Today, Monday, the central section of the arch of the new outstanding Arch Bridge of Valdebebas, of about 123 tons, has
been placed on site, concluding the arch temporary propped.
Currently the deck is already at 80%, with 18.9 m executed of the total 24.5 m, and only the pieces of the cantilevers remain to be placed on one of the 5.6 m wide sides to conclude the deck, and the pieces that will make up the “diagrid” or structural mesh that will join the arch with the deck.
Once the construction of the entire steel structure of the central section, which is 130 m long, 24.5 m wide and weighs about 2,400 tons, is completed, it will be moved to its final location on the M-12 in a singular operation.
The new arch bridge of Valdebebas will connect the Terminal T-4 of the Barajas Madrid airport with Valdebebas crossing over the M-12, with a main span of 162 m and a total length of 207 m.
